Well, what can I say, the weather was fantastic on Saturday morning as all the participating staff of the People first Group met at the Royal Quay marina in Newcastle. After a good breakfast and welcome introdution by the skipper of Polar Bear, Mark Richardson, we all donned our woolly jumpers and life jackets (it’s cold at see you know!). There were two boats we chartered for the day, one being Polar Bear, a 72 ft craft famously owned by Dee Cafrey, the first female to sail around the World ‘West about’. The other craft was a 50 ft gentlemans yacht called Whisper. The sailing conditions were great and the whole team had a fab day, take a look at the pictures.

Hello and welcome to our first of our weekly blogs. All the staff of People first Group have an exciting Saturday coming up; we have charted 2 racing yachts on the Tyne in Newcastle, a 72 ft boat, and a 50 ft boat. After getting everyone accustomed to the yachts, we plan to head out to the North Sea and give everyone the chance to station different areas on the boat, winching the sails, helming, making the tea! I am sure it will be a superb day and we also get to know which of our staff have steady sea legs!

We have some exciting news coming shortly explaining in more detail our businesses involvement with the sailing expedition 2009. Mark Styles (CEO People First Group) is again taking part in the challenging Fastnet race 2009. Mark again will be spearheading the race for a number of charities to raise both money and awareness of various local and global eco issues. We all wish Mark better weather this year, sadly in 2007 the conditions were horrendous, 200 + boats set off to compete in the race and only a handful actually completed the race, Mark being one of the casualties of the conditions, their mainsail became trapped in the mast rigging and someone hade to clamber up the mast in s a force 9 and cut it loose! I’ll stick with watching football on TV.
